Project Description

Our Game: Sky-Island Showdown

We are planning on building a competitive battle-royale-like game where players on sky islands fight to occupy the central island by blowing each other off of the map using wind-based attacks.

The goal of the game (in the default game mode) is to occupy the central island for the required amount of time. Players are able to knock opponents off of the map which causes them to respawn off of the central island and thus requires them to waste time trying to get back to the central island. When a player is the only person standing in the central area (which is a region in the central island), they can start accumulating points for themselves. If the player leaves the area, their count will stop. There is only one winner: the first player who reaches a certain threshold of points; the rest of the players are, respectfully, losers.

The unique aspects of our game include the wind-based attacks, which offer a lot of room for creativity and engaging gameplay. The map of floating islands is also a unique setting for the game. In addition, we plan to add random events (weather) that can knock players off the island. Unlike most games where weather only plays a part in changing the display (and essentially nothing else), in Sky-Island Showdown the gameplay is also impacted (player’s movement). We also plan to add an “ammo” system where players have a limited amount of wind attacks; once they run out, they will need to return to the outer islands to refill their ammo. This would prevent players from staying in the central island for prolonged periods of time.
